SOCIAL

Supporting the NHS & Local Authorities

“Our partnership with AHH started when we were looking to secure the future for Christchurch Hospital. It’s through that partnership that we used some of the spare land on the site to develop a care home and senior living community.

Our return from that investment has been hugely beneficial in allowing us to bring up the quality of all of our estate on site.

Communities that offer affordable, purpose-built homes and well-being for older people are a key part of healthier, independent living. Partnerships founded on long-term aligned goals, such as ours with AHH, are good for our local community.”

ESG

Changing Lives

Our commitment extends beyond crafting exceptional living spaces to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals, particularly the elderly.

Recognising the challenges of isolation, we actively engage in initiatives to foster community connections and enhance well-being. Through thoughtful design and community programs, we strive to create environments that encourage social interaction, reduce isolation, and contribute to the overall improvement of lives.

Our dedication to helping the elderly is not just about providing housing; it’s about creating vibrant and inclusive communities where residents can enjoy a sense of belonging and support.

MAKING HOMES AFFORDABLE

The average weekly pension for an elderly couple is £482 per week (GOV.UK, 2021) pricing a large proportion of the elderly out of home ownership. Jackie and Graham Ree purchased a share in an apartment at Esprit, saying “If Platinum Skies didn’t have the shared ownership scheme, then we wouldn’t have been able to buy our apartment”  they say they are “now living a lifestyle that we can afford because of Platinum Skies Shared Ownership.”

ELIMINATING SOCIAL ISOLATION

Social isolation significantly increases the risk of premature death from all causes.* Jack Francis, Chapters Homeowner, has found new friendships within his Platinum Skies community, who he regularly meets during the not-for-profit activities organised by Chapters Community Managers. *(National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, 2020)

COMBATTING LONELINESS

More than a million older people say they go for over a month without speaking to anyone. (Age UK, 2021) Claire McKendrick, Vista Homeowner, says that moving to a Platinum Skies community was “the best move I have ever made” noting that “If somebody is feeling lonely and they want to make friends easily, then this is perfect because everyone joins in with everything.”
